Criminal Justice Scholarship - Freshman Students

Departmental scholarship awarded to criminal justice students for their first/freshman year at Western. The application period is open from December 1st to July 1st for scholarships that will be awarded for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Apply before April 1st to be considered as a priority applicant. The total amount of the scholarship will be awarded in an even split between the fall and spring semesters unless otherwise approved by the department.

Minimum requirements:

  • Majoring in a degree program from the Criminal Justice Department
  • Students within the first 30 credits of their degree program
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.0 (for continuation for the spring semester)

All freshman applicants are also required to submit a personal essay on the following topics:

  • Why do you feel you should be a recipient of the scholarship?
  • Your educational goals?
  • Your future career goals?

Free Application for Federal Aid (FAFSA) must be completed to provide calculation of cost of attendance (COA) and student must be registered for Fall 2024 semester (registration opens April 10, 2024) to be considered for this scholarship.

Maintenance to keep this scholarship is a 2.0 cum GPA at the end of each term (semester) and 100% completion of paid credits.
