Social Work Scholarship - Freshman Students

This opportunity is a departmental scholarship awarded to social work students for their first/freshman year at Western. The application period is open from December 1st to July 1st for scholarships that will be awarded for the 2022-2023 Academic year. Apply before April 1st to be considered as a priority applicant. The total amount of the scholarship will be awarded in an even split between the fall and spring semesters unless otherwise approved by the department.

Minimum requirements:

• Majoring in a degree program from the Social Work Department
• Students within the first 30 credits of their degree program
• Full-time enrollment
• Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher (for continuation for the spring semester)

All freshman applicants are also required to submit a personal essay on the following topics:

• Why you feel you should be a recipient of the scholarship
• Your educational goals
• Your future career goals
