Musical Theatre Scholarship

This opportunity is a departmental scholarship awarded to Musical Theatre students.. The application period is open from December 1st to July 1st for scholarships that will be awarded for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Apply before April 1st to be considered as a priority applicant.
Minimum requirements:
Western Criteria
– Maintain a 2.5 GPA per semester
– Successfully complete a minimum of 12 credits per semester
– Be approved by the instructor
– Actively participate in program
– Meet the department’s unique criteria
Theatre Department Unique Criteria
– Be actively working toward an Associate of Arts in Musical Theatre degree
– Attend all department meetings, auditions, work calls, strikes, rehearsals, technical rehearsals, and performances each semester
– Maintain a “B” grade in all practicum and private lesson courses each semester
– Maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 in theatre and dance courses
– Maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 in general education courses
*How To Apply:
– Complete the Special Ability Grant application which includes the submission of an audition video
– Perform from memory, two contrasting musical theatre songs, not to exceed 1 minute in length each. Must be from a stage musical (1920’s – present) and should display your best vocal range, vocal style, and characterization. You must use live or recorded accompaniment. Under no circumstances will you be allowed to sing unaccompanied (a cappella).
– Perform from memory, one contemporary monologue, not to exceed 1 minute in length. Must be from a published stage play.

Free Application for Federal Aid (FAFSA) must be completed to provide calculation of cost of attendance (COA) and student must be registered for Fall 2024 semester (registration opens April 10, 2024) to be considered for this scholarship.
