Psychology Scholarship - Freshman Students

FALL 2025 – SPRING 2026

Departmental scholarship awarded to Psychology students for their first/freshman year at Western. The application period is open from December 1st to July 1st for scholarships that will be awarded for the 2025-2026 academic year. Apply before April 1st to be considered as a priority applicant. The total amount of the scholarship will be awarded for the whole year in Fall 2025 with an even split between the fall and spring semesters unless otherwise approved by the department (eligibility requirements below will be reviewed t the end of Fall 2025 to determine eligibility for the spring semester)..

Minimum requirements:

• Majoring in a degree program from the Psychology Department
• Students within the first 30 credits of their degree program
• Cumulative GPA of 2.0 (for continuation for the spring semester)

Free Application for Federal Aid (FAFSA) must be completed to provide calculation of cost of attendance (COA) and student must be registered for Fall 2025 semester (registration opens April 9, 2025) to be considered for this scholarship.

Maintenance to keep this scholarship is a 2.0 cumulative GPA at the end of each term (semester).

All freshman applicants are also required to submit a personal essay on the following topics:

• Why you feel you should be a recipient of the scholarship
• Your educational goals
• Your future career goals
